WORKS ON ROAD TO LINK KPG SG MAONG, KPG SEGEDUP TO KICK OFF YEAR-END
The construction of a road, which is set to connect Kampung Sungai Maong with Kampung Segedup, will commence at the end of this year.
Speaking at the ‘Ihsan Ramadan Satok 2019’ at Merpati Jepang Hall, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the works may take up to three years.
Adding on, Abang Johari said the road connectivity would then open up more land areas for new housing, specifically those slated for affordable units.
Kampung Kudei, Kampung Sungai Maong and Kampung Segedup are among the villages in Kuching that have been earmarked for redevelopment, in that they are a part of a larger development plan for the Satok constituency, where Abang Johari is the state assemblyman.
Additionally, a new housing project will also be developed in Kampung Sungai Bedaun near Santubong.
GAWAI FESTIVAL OPPORTUNITY TO ENHANCE UNITY, COHESIVENESS
Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong has advised members of the Bidayuh community to take the opportunity to enhance their unity and cohesiveness during this Gawai festival.
Manyin, who is also Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) chief advisor, lamented that the ethnic group had been divided due to political differences.
He noted that the Bidayuh community was considered to be a minority group, as they only consisted of about eight per cent of the total population in Sarawak.
He also reminded members of the Bidayuh community to set aside all their differences in order for them to stay united.
