KUCHING: Visitors of various racial and religious backgrounds coming together to Chinese New Year open house today is a great indicator of the harmonious Sarawakians.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg when visiting Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) open house today said, sunny weather on the first day of the Chinese New Year celebrations also augurs well for the party.
2. CROSS-RACIAL UNDERSTANDING COMES FROM THOSE WHO UNDERSTAND
KUCHING: Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Children’s Development, Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah opined that cross-racial understanding among multicultural communities emerge as they understand one another.
Being a product of hybrid or mixed marriage of ‘Mel-Cin’ (Melanau-Chinese) herself, Fatimah expressed her gratefulness for the understanding she inherited from her parents.
She said this when met by the reporters when visiting Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) open house at its headquarters earlier today.
She added, this ‘hybrid’ product was also a good basis to maintain unity and understanding among multicultural communities in Sarawak.
3. SARAWAK IS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAKS
KUCHING: Sarawak is taking precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus outbreaks from Wuhan China.
Visiting Sarawak Legal Advisor Dato Sri JC Fong’s open house today, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari Tun Openg said all health checks through the Health Department have been activated at the entrance of international airports throughout the country.
Although Sarawak has not received any reports of suspects, Abang Zohari said, strict inspection at all entrances will still be conducted for monitoring.
According to him, the same step has been taken when the country was facing the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) long before.
