2) TAN SRI WILLIAM MAWAN DISMISSED REPORT LISTING PAKAN AS A POOR DISTRICT
Pakan Assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom dismissed a report listing Pakan as one of the 28 poorest districts in Malaysia.
In a special interview session, he asserted that making household income to determine the status of hardcore poor cannot be categorized, in which there are still families earning zero income but receiving money from children who work out of Sarawak.
He explained, research on Pakan should be conducted holistically, taking into account the level of quality of life and the well-being of its people to make a fair comparison.
He also invited Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun and relevant agency officials to Pakan to see for themselves the general development being implemented so far.
