KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir has brushed off suggestions to appoint Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the next Menteri Besar of Johor, saying that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia will propose its own candidate.
Yesterday, Johor Umno Chief Datuk Hasni Mohamed said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should be the next menteri besar, stressing that he has experience as a chief minister as well as a deputy prime minister.
Tun Dr Mahathir said, in response, “It is the winning party which names the Menteri Besar, not the losers. The losers keep quiet.”
On Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s suitability as a candidate, Tun Dr Mahathir said the home minister had “other jobs to do”.
