1. NO SUCH THINGS AS SARAWAKIANS BEING IGNORED
KUALA LUMPUR: Let the Rumah Sarawak know if there are any Sarawakians in the Peninsula who need help, especially those in need.
Petra Jaya assemblyman Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also Sarawak Volunteers Adviser said the cooperation of all parties including the Non-Governmental Organization is very much welcome to help out especially in the case involving Sarawakians in need.
According to Fadillah, there are 49 cases of welfare fund during death (khairat kematian) were assisted and managed, throughout 2019, which involved an overall expenditure of RM157,750.
2. DON’T CONFUSE AUSTRALIAN PR FOR CITIZENSHIP, SIM TELLS CHONG
KUCHING: Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian clarified that he had never acquired Australian citizenship.
Dr Sim said he had returned to Sarawak and served in public hospitals soon after he completed his training as a cardiologist in Melbourne, Australia.
This response came following the remarks of Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen made comparisons between his Australian permanent residency status with former Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon’s Australian citizenship.
Dr Sim claimed that Chong was trying to confuse and mislead Sarawakians after Dr Ting was stripped as Pujut assemblyman following the Federal Court ruling in a majority decision that the Sarawak State Assembly was correct to disqualify him.
3. PREPARE FOR INTERRUPTION OF WATER SUPPLY NEXT WEEK, SAMARAHAN RESIDENTS ADVISED
KUCHING: Samarahan residents were advised to store up water and reduce water usage on Feb 18 to 19 to give way for connecting work of the main pipes from Summer Mall Complex to the Tambirat Water Booster Pump Station.
The Rural Water Supply Department in a media statement said contractors will start the connecting work from 10 pm on Tuesday (Feb 18) to 6 am on Wednesday (Feb 19).
As a result of the water pipes connection work, it pointed out that the water supply in Asajaya district and some areas in Sadong Jaya which include Kampung Sui and Kampung Sungai Buluh will experience water supply disruption.
It also disclosed that its Samarahan Division’s office was prepared to deliver water to those areas that will be highly affected by the water supply disruption for instance, clinics and schools.
