KUALA LUMPUR: American restaurant chain, A&W will soon introduce more affordable set meals, priced between RM8.90 and RM9.90 in May.
George Ang, the new owner of A&W Malaysia Sdn Bhd as quoted in New Straits Times said the restaurants now served fresh chicken and were committed to absorb the extra costs from the more expensive fresh chicken.
Ang plans to expand the partnership with GrabFood to 18 outlets by the end of the year and double up standalone drive-through A&W restaurants to eight next year.
Being one of the founders of Revenue Valley Sdn Bhd, Ang sees technology in the restaurant as making it easier and faster for the consumer and as a mid-term solution to reduce staff headcount at the restaurant counter.
As A&W adds on more outlets, manual tasks will be automated to raise staff productivity and plans to invest into cloud computing to connect daily sales data of each outlet is in the pipeline.
He also motivates existing staff to take ownership and be more efficient so that they can earn higher wages.
