PENAMPANG: The negotiating terms and conditions by Ikea to open an outlet in Sabah is in a ‘positive’ process.
Quoting Assistant Finance Minister Kenny Chua Borneo Post says apart from negotiating the terms and suitable area to the Sabah government, the state government will also have to provide Ikea with infrastructure and facilities for the company to enter Sabah.
Chua pointed out that most furniture manufacturers in Malaysia originated from Johor and have outlets in Sabah.
Hence, Chua urged furniture manufacturers to set up their factories in the State, where they could save on transportation and other costs and in turn sell their product at cheaper price.
