1. HYDROGEN CELL IS SAFE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY – DR JERIP
Hydrogen cell is established scientific technology which has been used in Germany, Canada, China and now in Sarawak.
Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the research and development (R&D) on hydrogen-related issues were ongoing and Sarawak Government would decide how many refueling stations to be built only after the research concluded.
He added the issue of contaminants found in hydrogen produced at the Integrated Hydrogen Production Plant and Refueling Station had been fully resolved by Sarawak Energy Berhad and Linde EOX Sdn Bhd.
Dr Jerip said SEB and Linde will continue to impose stringent quality control requirements for the hydrogen production facility and refueling station.
2. NEW WATER SUBSIDY FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES
A total of 600,000 domestic and rural consumers in Sarawak will benefit from the provision of free water for the first RM5 of the monthly bill initiatives of the Sarawak government.
The Utilities Ministry in a statement said that the Sarawak Government will be spending about RM40 million per year to cover the cost of its free water scheme starting Jan 1, 2020.
It added that this initiatives of the state government will reduce the financial burden of the people, especially in the rural communities.
3. NEW ELECTRICITY POLICY FOR SARAWAKIAN
More than 22,000 households comprising low income urban households as well as rural households will benefit from the new policy of free electricity connection effective from 1st January 2020.
Utilities Ministry in a statement said the new policy of free electricity connection charges of up to RM5000 along with subsidies of up to 70 percent for connection charges between RM5000 and RM10,000 for low income urban households is timely.
It added under the current rural electrification programs the households will benefit from this new policy, easing financial burden.
