HP first dipped its toe in last year’s leather-clad Spectre Folio experiment with natural finishes, and now it’s making the jump to wood with the latest updates to its Envy laptop range. The new Envy Wood Series, announced at Computex 2019, brings natural wood palm rests to both traditional Envy laptops and the Envy x360 line in a trio of finishes.
The laptops remain essentially the same as the current crop, but the distinct addition of the look of the wood grain across the palm rests around the trackpad. Moreover, the Wood Series will come in three varieties: Black Nightfall with Natural Walnut, White Ceramic with White Birch, or Pale Birch with Natural Silver. HP also says it’s committed to sustainably sourcing its wood – yes, here you get real wood, not a vinyl cover.
The updated look can be found through HP Envy 13, x360 13, x360 15, and Envy 17. Other updates include choosing Intel Core processors “next-gen” or Ryzen Mobile processors of second-generation AMD.
Starting this fall, the Envy Wood Series is expected to go on sale, but for now HP is mum on price details. As the launch approaches, we should learn a lot more. For the time being, you can check out the current HP Envy lineup, available at some solid discounts. -CNET
