KUALA LUMPUR: Hock Seng Lee Bhd (HSL) has secured a RM298.98mil construction project from the Sarawak Government to build the Batang Paloh bridge in Mukah division.
The construction company, as quoted in The Star says the contract which is expected to start in May, was part of the RM11bil allocation to upgrade the coastal road, second trunk road and water supply works in Sarawak.
The scope of works for HSL is the construction of a 1.9km long reinforced concrete structure balanced cantilever bridge which includes substantial marine piling works using 1,500mm diameter steel pipe pile.
The project will see permanent bridges replacing the existing ferry services at the river.
Quoting HSL managing director Datuk Paul Yu Chee Hoe, The Star also says the outlook for the group was promising as the Batang Paloh Bridge project was secured shortly after HSL won RM54.3mil worth of contracts from Sarawak Energy Bhd for earthworks, facilities and residences for the Balingian coal-fired power plant, also in Mukah.
