1. GOOD DESIGN WEEK KEY STEP TOWARDS CREATIVE ECONOMY
Good Design Week (GDW2019) jointly organized by Swinburne University and Curtin University is seen as one of the key steps towards realizing a creative economy in line with the government’s aspiration towards digital economic growth.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg said Sarawak not only witnessed the growth of the digital economy which covers large data technologies, automation and artificial intelligence but also a creative economy that included game development and animation.
According to him, the state government should also take into account how communities are able to harness digital technology to enhance and preserve their culture, heritage and traditions in the context of a creative economy.
He said this in his speech read by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Dr Annuar Rapaee when opening Good Design Week 2019 at Swinburne Kuching today.
He added that GDW2019 is an opportunity to combine research, practice, governance and design-related scholarships to study the best design for communities, housing, cultural, heritage, eco-tourism, and so on.
