1. FREE PETROL REFILLS FOR MOTORCYCLISTS
RM7,500 has been set aside by Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Chong Chieng Jen to provide RM5 worth of free petrol for motorcyclists in his Stampin constituency.
He said this aid is meant to help the lower-income group during the coming Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
The first of the three-series free petrol programme was held yesterday at a Petronas station off Jalan Batu Kawa.
While the next two will take place at Mile 7 Kota Sentosa on May 31th, and Mile 8 1/2 on June 4th, from 2pm until 4pm.
2. GPS NEEDS ALL SARAWAKIANS
In plans to bring Sarawakians to the next level of economic prosperity and political stability, Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas appealed to Sarawakians to support Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
Speaking at the 15th Miri Division Gawai Dayak celebration on Saturday night in Miri, Uggah said participation from Sarawakians is crucial as the goal can be achieved only when everybody united.
He added, the allocations worth RM1.5 billion approved by the Sarawak government for the implementation of infrastructure projects are aimed to resolve and narrow the imbalance development between the rural and urban areas.
On the various development programmes for the Highland Development Agency (HDA) areas, Uggah said, the projects under HDA are expected to benefit about 75,000 residents from 244 villages in the Baram constituency which covers an area of 18,462 sq km.
3. STATE WELFARE INITIATIVES TO GO ON
The state government will continue to implement welfare initiatives that uphold Sarawak’s interest.
Law, State-federal Relations and Project Monitoring Assistant Minister Sayeed Aman Ghazali said, the initiatives are important to help improve the quality of life of the people irrespective of race or religion.
The RM300 subsidy of air ticket for Sarawakian university students is one of the efforts by the state government in helping underprivileged group to visit their families.
Sharifah Hasidah also commended the efforts of Samariang welfare agency and Samariang GPS/PBB Women and Youth wings for their roles in organising welfare programmes as the state’s wealth should be shared with the people so that they will have a bright future.
