Four top technology companies consist of Amazon.com Inc, Apple Inc, Alphabet Inc’s and Google are collaborating to lay the groundwork for better compatibility among their smart home products.
The project namely “Connected Home Over IP” is to make it easier for device manufacturers to build products that are compatible with smart home and voice services such as Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant.
Zigbee Alliance board member companies such as IKEA, Legrand, NXP Semiconductors, Resideo, Samsung SmartThings, Schneider Electric, Signify (formerly Philips Lighting), Silicon Labs, Somfy, and Wulian are also on board to join the working group and contribute to the project.
As quoted by Reuters, this rare partnership is built to oppose the backdrop of an intensified competition among global technology companies.
