1) CONSTRUCTION OF SECOND BRIDGE IN KAMPUNG LUSUT APPROVED
The construction of the bridge worth RM500,000 located near SK Temenggung Datuk Muip has been approved by the Sarawak government.
Lambir assemblyman, Ripin Lamat said, the construction work for the second bridge in Kampung Lusut, Lambir in Taman Tunku, Miri is currently at the design stage.
According to him, the completion of the bridge will better facilitate student movement from SK Temenggung Datuk Muip and SMK Riam as well as provide a short cut for residents of Kampung Lusut to schools and commercial areas in Taman Tunku.
Lamat said, they are currently waiting for the design work to complete and hope for the implementing agency to speed up the construction of this bridge.
2) DECISION ON PAN BORNEO HIGHWAY MODEL NOT FINALISED YET
KUCHING: The decision of the federal government to replace the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) model to a turnkey contractor model for Pan Borneo Highway project has not been finalised yet.
According to works minister, Baru Bian, the PDP in Sabah, Syarikat Borneo Highway PDP Sdn Bhd is supposed to complete their part on Dec, 31st 2021 while PDP in Sarawak, Syarikat Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd is supposed to finish on June 30th, 2021.
Currently, the project in Sabah stands at a 12 per cent completion rate, whereas in Sarawak, it is currently 38 per cent complete.
Baru assured that the whole project was in the midst of reassessment by the federal government while taking into consideration the capability of the government’s present financial.
3) MALAYSIA CLOSELY MONITORS OPEN BURNING IN REGION
Malaysia is closely monitoring open burning activities in the region through the Asean Meteorological Centre.
Department of Environment Malaysia, director-general Datuk Dr Ahmad Kamarulnajuib Che Ibrahim said, the weather condition is monitored through the the Asean Meteorological Centre, which is based in Singapore.
According to him, the situation of the transboundary movement of haze has improved as there have been heavy rains in Peninsular Malaysia in recent days.
