1. CALLS FOR UNITY DESPITE DIVERSITY – TUN M
Despite racial, cultural and religious differences, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has urged Malaysian not make difference of views as an excuse to fight against one another.
Speaking at the national-level Malaysia Day 2019 celebration at Stadium Perpaduan last night, he said stability is achieved only when there is unity.
He added that the people should be aware of the responsibility to maintain unity in Malaysia in line with the “Unity in Diversity” slogan.
2. SARAWAK WILL ALWAYS BE IN MALAYSIA – ABANG JOHARI
Speaking at the same event, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg has reiterated that Sarawak will always be in Malaysia.
He said despite the different political platforms of the Sarawak Government and the Federal Government, he believed that both governments can work together for the benefit of the people and the nation.
Abang Johari also welcomed the “Shared Prosperity” approach announced by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad recently.
3. INDIA STREET MURAL: INTO THE RECORDS BOOK
The India Street Merchant Association is now listed in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for having the largest Augmented Reality (AR) mural at the India Street.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian who witnessed the presentation of the MBOR certificate said the painting shows the rest of the world how the multiracial society in Sarawak can come together and live in harmony.
Kuching South City Hall (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng encouraged more local talents to create innovative solutions to meet the needs of the community.
