1. AGITATES RULE OF LAW, SOCIAL ORDER, WOULD NOT GAIN SARAWAKIAN SUPPORTS
KUCHING: By provoking lawlessness, hostilities and violent confrontation in disregard for the political and social order, peace and harmony in Sarawakian society, such political party or individuals will not gain the support of the Sarawakian voters.
This was stated by Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How in a press statement today in response to a call by State Reform Party (STAR) president Lina Soo for him to once again table a motion on the referendum in the next DUN sitting scheduled in May.
He pointed out that all political parties and leaders in Sarawak should project and uphold a decent level of political dignity and nobility to serve the greater interests of Sarawak and all Sarawakians.
See said this is important so that they will be able to collectively win the confidence and support of the people.
2. SAFETY FIRST FOR BOAT OPERATORS AND PASSENGERS
KUCHING: Boat operators and passengers are urged to keep safety in mind following the guidelines and regulations set by the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB).
Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said it was important for express boat operators and passengers to adhere to standard operating procedure (SOP) to prevent any unwanted incidents.
He added all forms of accidents could be avoided if all passengers including express boat operators are in compliance with the rules set out on the jetty and on board the passenger boat.
Therefore, he reminds passengers who return to the village during the Chinese New Year celebration to comply with all safety regulations while on boat.
3. E-TICKETING SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION FOR EXPRESS BOATS TO COMMENCE BY SECOND HALF OF THIS YEAR
On another note, Datuk Lee Kim Shin said,
SIBU: The first phase of implementation of e-ticketing system for express boats is expected to commence by second half of this year.
According to State Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, the first phase of the implementation of the e-ticketing system would involve the express boats in central region operating Sibu, Kapit, Song and Kuching routes.
He said, the implementation is now in the process of approval through Sarawak Multimedia Authority.
The e-ticketing system, he said, is part of the ministry’s efforts to upgrade the service of river transport especially in line with the state government’s digital economy agenda.
