KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) — The Fourth International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES 2018) will take place on April 10-11 in Kuching, Sarawak, said co-organiser, the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA).
Sarawak was nominated as host state given the exemplary large scale renewable energy contribution in its electricity mix, said SEDA in a statement here today.
Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) Minister, Datuk Seri Maximus Johnity Ongkili officiated the soft launch of the summit at the SEDA booth of the 8th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2017) here today.
Also present were Sarawak State Assistant Minister for Utilities, Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Utilities, Ir.Alice Jawan and SEDA’s Chief Executive Officer, Catherine Ridu.
The biennial event is being jointly organised by KeTTHA and SEDA, as a knowledge-based platform, specifically focused on renewable energy and energy demand management, as well as to provide a stage for local and regional stakeholders to network.
Catherine, who is the organising Chair for ISES 2018 said the theme of the summit is, “Sustainable Energy: The Future is Here”, and it is the first to be hosted outside of the Klang Valley since being inaugurated in 2012.
“The forthcoming summit will have deep dive workshops and plenary sessions. It will introduce the blockchain technologies, energy storage systems, auctioning of renewable energy projects and a ministerial dialogue as possible mechanisms to advance the sustainable energy agenda,” she added.
The summit, at the Pullman Hotels and Resorts, has two components – the conference and mini exhibition.
