Voting has been extended into the evening in the Maldives presidential election. Despite worries that the country is sliding toward authoritarianism and alleged intimidation, challenger Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has run a vigorous campaign against President Abdulla Yameen. An extra three hours have been added to the voting after long queues formed at polling stations.
