MIRI, June 11 (Bernama) — The contractor for the RM5 million Miri Waterfront project has been selected through open tender procedure with the lowest tender being accepted by the Miri City Council (MCC).
MCC secretary Morshidi Fredrick said the actual project cost was RM3,800,460.14, that comprised three main components of expenditure such as the construction costs, consultant fees and capital contribution to utilities services that included electrical and water supplies for the proposed laying of service line.
“The contract price (tender price) for the construction works is RM3,222,317.75, there is still a balance of RM1,19,539.86 from the allocation given by the state government that could be utilised for other essential works related to the project,” he said in a statement here today.
He said MCC had been allocated a special development fund of RM10 million from the state government for the city council to carry out various development projects in the city that included the RM5 million Miri Waterfront project.
The statement was in response to a letter sent by DAP’s state assemblyman for Pujut Dr Ting Tiong Choon on May 30, 2018 to MCC enquiring on the Miri Waterfront project’s funding.
For the record Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang was quoted as saying that the waterfront project is expected to be fully completed by middle of this month.
